Combat Hapkido Self Defence Training Programme 2012

Welcome to our Self Defence programmes for 2012.

Self defence classes are conducted at four schools across the Hutt Valley and enrolments for our Youth and Adult classes are being accepted. This is an on-going process and we encourage 'visitors' to upgrade to full time and progressive students.

Combat Hapkido style relies on skillful technique, science and a warrior mind set. Our aim is for students to develop self confidence to keep themselves safe in every day situations.

We have anecdotal evidence of pupils surviving bullying in play grounds and enroute to school because of lessons and skills learnt during our self defence classes.

We will help students with their personal self development plan and set up strategies to achieve the desired training outcomes.

We want students and visitors going away with useful and relevant self defensive information.

Students may graduate through the ‘colour belt’ syllabus by way of examinations that are conducted three times per year.

Our training philosophy is to encourage students achieve their personal goals, to accomplish syllabus blocks of requirements, and at the same time, to enjoy the journey through an Internationally recognised Self Defence Training Programme.

Supreme physical fitness is not critical to be successful in Combat Hapkido. The programme is designed for students who have an average standard of fitness. However, we are confident that individual fitness levels will improve. All students are encouraged to give maximum effort but retain the personal responsibility and maturity to pace themselves.

Combat Hapkido has a strong Code of Conduct and procedures are 100% Self Defence orientated.

Instructors are certified to conduct the training programmes.

We accept appropriate casual clothing suitable for beginner classes. However, those who wish to attain the International qualification through the 'colour belt' syllabus, must wear full dobok (uniform).

Learn about

  • the four 'T' s and how we use them at training and
  • accurate strikes, kicks, rolls, take down techniques, legal issues – and much more.

We are very familiar with preferred learning styles, lesson plans, assessments, personal aims, objectives and action plans. We will do our best so that students will have a magic moment.

We are also prepared to deliver personalised instruction. This may be useful for students who cannot commit to our classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday training sessions.
